Truck kills woman, 37, while praying in church

Tragedy struck, on Thursday, when a middle-aged woman was crushed to death while praying inside a church in Sotunbo, area along the busy Sagamu/Ikorodu road in Sagamu Local Government Area of Ogun state.

The incident, which occurred at about 6.00 am, was reported to be the second in three weeks in the same church.
According to an eye-witness, the tipper with number plate XM 594 SMK was from Sagamu end of the road, but had a blowout in one of its front tyres, making the driver lose control and rammed into the church.

It was gathered that the woman, identified as Iyawo Alfa, was hit from behind while kneeling in prayer with her four months old baby.
But, while the woman died on the spot, her baby and the Pastor who was in front of her during the prayer survived.

Vanguard gathered that Police had arrested two persons in respect of the accident.
It was further gathered that a similar accident occurred in front of the church about three weeks ago when an 18-seater bus had an accident in which the driver died.
