THREE people were, on Sunday morning, injured as a two-storey building went up in flames at Bashiru Street, in Ojodu Berger area of Lagos State, directly beside the collapsed building, where three people were kiled a few days ago.
Another three-storey building under construction, also on Sunday morning, collapsed in Ojo area of the state, though nobody was injured, as workers were not around when it caved in.
The three injured people were trapped in some of the flats at the two-storey building in Ojodu Berger
It was gathered that the fire, which started very early on Sunday, razed the roofing of some of the flats.
The public relations officer of the South-West zone of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Ibraheem Farinloye, confirmed the incident to the Nigerian Tribune.
Farinloye said three of the occupants of the building were initially trapped but were later rescued and taken to the clinic, where they they were later released, after being treated.
The three-storey building, which caved in at Liverpool Estate in Ojo area of the state on Sunday morning, had since been marked for demolition.
Farinloye informed the Nigerian Tribune that nobody was injured as the building was under construction.
“NEMA, as part of the measures to prevent building collapse in the swampy area, had an agreement with the landlords in the area to stop further development,” he said.
It was gathered that there were concerns over many of the buildings in the estate, as they were reportedly erected on drainage channel.
