39 year old woman arrested after seven dead babies found in Utah garage

A US woman has been arrested in Utah after police found seven dead babies in the garage of her former home. Megan Huntsman’s estranged husband made the grisly discovery after he began to clear out the garage in the home they shared until three years ago.

Investigators said that the infants had been born between 1996 and 2006, and were stuffed into cardboard boxes and placed in the garage. Police were called on Saturday night after Megan’s estranged husband found a body and investigators found a further six bodies.

A police spokesman said that the estranged husband, who has not been named, lived with Ms Huntsman during the period the babies were born, but was not a person of interest. The spokesman said, “We don’t believe he had any knowledge of the situation.”

The infant’s bodies have been sent to the Utah medical examiner’s office for tests and to determine the cause of death. DNA samples were taken from Ms Huntsman and her husband to determine whether the two were the parents.

The house, situated in a middle-class neighbourhood is believed to be owned by the husband’s parents. Ms Huntsman’s three daughters still live at the address and are believed to be between 13 and 20 years old.

Ms Huntsman was booked in the Utah County Jail for six counts of murder on Sunday, it is not known whether she has a lawyer or not.
