Group wants David Mark to succeed President Jonathan in 2015
A group, under the aegis of the Federation of Nigerian Youth Assembly,FENIYA, has called on Senate President, David Mark to run for the 2015 presidential election.
FENIYA National Coordinator, Alhaji Bello Hassan, at meeting with other officials of the group at the weekend in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital called on the Okpokpowulu of Idomaland to succeed Presdient Goodluck Jonathan because of his efforts towards uniting the country.
The group noted that Mark could also be trusted with the highest position in the country.
According to him, Mark’s endorsement by the group was born out of their belief that the Senate President has the qualities needed to develop Nigeria.Hassan said: “We ask the Senate President, David Mark, to contest the 2015 presidential election because of his proven leadership qualities in the last six years at the Senate and our belief that he can pilot the ship of Nigeria to a safe destination.
“It was the decision by Mark-led Senate that invoked the doctrine of necessity that gave President Goodluck Jonathan the opportunity to become the Acting President in 2010.
“We are aware that the incumbent has the right to seek re-election in 2015, but that will not stop us from advancing the cause of our principal, Senator David Mark.”
The group, however, urged Mark to accept the call to contest.
